Monday Tues Wed Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday

"For the next eleven weeks, we present 66 Hollywood musicals released between 1929-1939. These include a wide sample of the sub-genres within the musical picture: from the rather awkward early all-star revues of 1929 to the sophisticated Paramount musicals with Maurice Chevalier and Jeanette MacDonald; from the gritty backstage world of 42nd Street and the Gold Diggers series with their kaleidoscopic Busby Berkeley choreography to the sublime Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers; from Jerome Kern's Showboat to Shirley Temple's Captain January. Our program includes many rare titles from the UCLA Film Archive. Every Saturday (and some Fridays) we will be showing original nitrate prints. Many of these films are seldom if ever
shown in theatres."
